So with the proliferation of all these sublogs, subblogs, sub-blogs WHATEVERS on the various Gawker sites, I've been following more and more and they tend to be across different sites so it makes it annoying to keep up with them.
For example: Here on Jalopnik, the site I visit daily, I'll follow Truck Yeah and Black Flag and Lanesplitter (probably others but those come to mind). On other sites (note even sure which these are) I'll follow Wes's Indefinitely Wild or one called Happy Hour. Probably more that I've "followed" but I can't remember their names nor which site they came from.
Now, I really dig this whole sub thing (er, as in the blogs), I like how it brings me more targeted content - but I wish there was a way to see them in one feed.
Here's where maybe someone reading this, can run this missive up to the great castle of Kinja/Gawker...
Why not have something like:
- An option for your left side frame/feed to be only the blogs you follow
- Or a button under either the user menu or the Kinja menu that just says "Followed blogs" and brings up a chronological list of every blog post posted, but only the ones posted to what you follow.
Seems like this would be pretty easy to implement and encourage a bigger sense of community across the sites, to say nothing of probably getting more clicks/comments/input on each article.
EDIT: I just realized certain things like Oppo would possibly kill this idea's usefullness so it would need to have a way to let the user choose which sub blogs to put in this feed I think.
TL;DR - gimme a quick easy feed for all the sub blogs I follow.
Here's a fall foliage picture of my bike from a weeks ago for your troubles/reading this all the way.
(who says a sport bike can't go off road?)

Great gads this!
Also, maybe your followers too?

I like the idea. I use the yournamehere.kinja.com/private/followed page (for you, this would be jem.kinja.com/private/followed ). This way you can see all of the recent posts from the blogs and the commenters that you follow. I use this view religiously for this reason (and have unfollowed a few people because of how prolific they are, looking at you, DeMuro ).
Yes, it would be a easier for us if they would do this with the sidebar. But with the sidebar changes occurring on Jalopnik, I think they are focusing on primary content for that section of the page.

That's a really good way, didn't know that existed, thanks!
Though, it seems it is MEGA slow to load/re-load. Also, it seems like that's all the people who've followed me, not who I've followed?
Either way, it doesn't seem to be helpful when looking for blog only posts. still a great trick though thanks again!

see Gamecats reply to me. apparently there's already a way to do that - though I would say a menu option would be nicer/easier. Maybe one for who you've followed, and one for who's followed you.

It should be populated with just those that you have followed, plus any blogs that you have followed (I have not followed many blogs because of this... rennsport, rallytakeover, and some of the slower moving community blogs). It is a bit slow to load, but is quick once loaded (I can't tell why, but I have some suspicions - my guesses are, in no particular order: server balancing and rebuild/refactoring/plus traffic and load prioritization... plus the number of people you follow. This is essentially an ad hoc query).
I believe if you only followed a blog, it should show just posts from that blog. Will test, hold on.
Edit, just tested with a spare account I have. Only followed rallytakeover. All posts in private view are from rallytakeover.
Edit 2: if this were people who followed me / you, this view would be... uh... ... hmmm... Less useful. =)
Edit 3: if you follow oppo, you may want to stop doing so if you plan to use this view.

Thanks. I do a lot of weird tests on my own on here. =) I like knowing how things work.
